BATON ROUGE - A routine afternoon tree trimming turned into tense moments Tuesday afternoon.

Joe Jones, was using a chainsaw to cut a limb off a tree in the backyard of a home off Julia Street, when the limb fell, crushing his ladder.

A woman spotted Jones stranded about 30 feet up in the tree and called 911. Baton Rouge firefighters retrieved Jones from the tree about 30 minutes later after they were forced to wait for a taller ladder to arrive at the scene.

Jones told News 2 he was extremely grateful to see the rescuers arrive. After a quick thank you, the man got right back to work.
