NEW ROADS- Authorities in New Roads are investigating a shooting that happened over the weekend.

Witnesses say at least two people exchanged gunfire at each other during a trail riding event on Saturday. Many people were at the multi-use center with their horses.
     
"This is not something that is usual," said New Roads chief of police, Kevin McDonald. "We have a very family oriented community, you know fun loving. This was a family event and the subjects got involved in a fight and this is what happened."

There are no reports of serious injuries.

No arrests have been made in this case. The shooting is still under investigation.
