BATON ROUGE- Loved ones cried and embraced each other Wednesday night at the scene of an unsolved murder in North Baton Rouge. Jonathan Sam, 25, was gunned down after he intervened in an armed robbery last Thursday afternoon at G&T Tire shop on Plank Road and Erie.

"I'm angry because that was my child," said Sam's mother Joyce Lee.

Sam worked odd jobs at the shop. Police say he witnessed a man robbing a customer last Thursday when he intervened and was killed.

"It was unnecessary," said Bryan Glover. "It was definitely a loss to me because he was like a son."

Nearby video surveillance captured a clear picture of a black male who police want to question. His name has not been released.

"I'm going to miss him and I pray they find whoever did it to him," said Lee at the vigil.

Family and police are asking the public to help solve this crime.
