Update: LSU to play neighbors UL-Lafayette for Super Regional bid
Update:
LSU will take the field with Mark Laird back in the line-up for the first time since rolling his ankle at the SEC Baseball Tournament in Hoover last week.
Laird will lead off and play right field for the Tigers. Brent Bonvillian will get the start on the mound for the Tigers, but expect to see a number of pitcher for both teams before the night is over.
ULL will counter with Cody Boutte, the starting pitcher in their earlier game against Sam Houston St.. The left handed pitcher Boutte lasted 2 1/3 innings throwing 29 pitches giving up five hits and three runs against the Bearkats.
BATON ROUGE - LSU had all they could handle Saturday night after falling behind Sam Houston St 5-1 after the first inning, but the Tigers clawed their way back in a four-run eighth inning to win 8-5. The win put LSU in the Baton Rouge Regional Championship game(s).
Meanwhile, UL-Lafayette beat Sam Houston St 7-5 in an elimination game Sunday afternoon for the right to challenge LSU for the regional championship.
The situation for the Tigers is: win Sunday's 7pm game vs the Ragin' Cajuns and they'll advance to the next round, the Super Regional. Lose the first game, and the Tigers would have to play a winner-take-all game vs the Bearkats Monday at 7pm.
