HAMMOND, La. – Sophomore right-hander Mac Sceroler stymied the bats of Texas A&M-Corpus Christi, scattering two hits over eight innings Friday as Southeastern Louisiana shut out the Islanders, 4-0, in Southland Conference play at Pat Kenelly Diamond at Alumni Field.

Southeastern (17-6, 8-0 Southland) extended its winning streak to 11 games, tying the on-field record set by the 2010 squad.

A&M-Corpus Christi (9-12, 2-3 Southland) starting pitcher Chris Falwell (1-1) was in command early, retiring the first four batters he faced. After retiring center fielder Jacob Seward on a groundout, the 6-foot-7 left-hander fanned the next three batters – all looking.

Sceroler (3-2) was ready to match the Islander starter, retiring 18-consecutive batters following a one-out single by shortstop Casey Thomas in the first inning.

The Lions took advantage of a wild stretch by Falwell in the third. With one out, he hit third baseman Taylor Schwaner with a pitch.

Seward and shortstop Brennan Breaud, a freshman from Norco, Louisiana, then slapped back-to-back singles through the left side to load the bases. Seward scored on an RBI groundout by first baseman Jameson Fisher.

Falwell then hit designated hitter Daniel Midyett with a pitch to load the bases once again and hit left fielder Webb Bobo with a pitch to force in Breaud with the second run of the inning.

Sceroler continued to mow through the Islander order, while Southeastern struck for two more runs in the fifth.

Seward drew a walk to lead off the inning, promptly stealing both second and third as Falwell issued a walk to Breaud.

With runners on the corners, Fisher ripped a double into the right-field corner to drive in both Seward and Breaud with the game's final runs.

Sceroler earned the win, fanning eight batters while working a career-high eight innings. Sophomore left-hander Drew Avans earned his third save of the season, fanning a pair while stranding two inherited runners in the ninth. Falwell was tagged with the loss.

Fisher, who entered the game ranked second in the nation in batting average (.486), was 2-for-4 at the plate and drove in three of the Lions' four runs.
