11-year-old arrested and charged for shooting brother on Lanier Drive
BATON ROUGE - Police are investigating a shooting that appeared to be accidental between two siblings, leaving one juvenile dead.
Officials said a 9-year-old boy was shot inside a home and died at the scene.
His 11-year-old brother has been arrested and booked into a juvenile detention center. He was charged with negligent homicide.
Authorities responded to the incident around 6:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Lanier Drive near Prescott Road.
BRPD says it seems the two brothers were playing with the weapon inside the home when it mistakenly discharged, killing the victim.
The investigation is ongoing.
