BATON ROUGE - One person is dead after a Thursday morning shooting off of N Sherwood Forest.

Baton Rouge Police responded to the incident just after 11 a.m. on West Catalpa Street. The coroner confirmed Jamonte Davis, 21, dead from gunshot wounds.

The shooting has been ruled a homicide. Police have not yet identified a suspect or motive.

The situation comes amid a wave of violence, including recent killings that broke the homicide record in East Baton Rouge.
