Man jumps from second floor window with puppy during Baton Rouge apartment fire
BATON ROUGE- Firefighters say a man at an area apartment complex jumped from the second floor of an apartment building with his pet wrapped in his arms Tuesday morning.
The Baton Rouge Fire Department responded to the fire in the 1700 block of Brightside Drive shortly before 10 a.m. The fire department confirmed a person was inside the unit at the time, but was able to escape through an upstairs window with his pet dog.
No injuries have been reported.
Authorities say the unit where the fire started is considered a total loss. Another unit received minor heat and smoke damage. Investigators are looking into the cause of the fire.
The fire department say the fire was started by a pot that was left unattended on the stove.
