Livingston Parish deputies report 1 dead in apparent drowning
ALBANY - Sheriff's deputies say an Albany man drowned while fishing in a Livingston Parish pond late in the morning on New Year's Eve.
25-year-old Benjamin McKinley was one of two boaters fishing in a small body of water located off Highway 442 near Pea Ridge Road when the boat capsized around 11 a.m.
Deputies said one of the fisherman was able to swim to safety, but members of LPSO Search & Rescue recovered McKinley's body at around 1 p.m. Thursday.
Foul play is not suspect at this point in the ongoing investigation. Other agencies were on the scene.
