Jefferson Parish sheriff's employee found shot, killed
TERRYTOWN - An employee of the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office was found shot to death inside a car in Terrytown Monday, according to reports.
WWL-TV said witnesses in the area of Ashley Drive said they heard shots fired Sunday night around 9 p.m.
According to Sheriff Newell Normand someone passing through the area Monday morning saw the shattered window of the vehicle. That person called the sheriff's office when they saw the woman lying inside the vehicle.
"There were several spent casings found outside of the vehicle," said Normand.
The sheriff said the victim was in a privately-owned vehicle, not a sheriff's office cruiser. He did not describe the victim's job with the JPSO.
