Franklinton 19-year-old killed in St. Helena Parish crash
GREENSBURG - Troopers say a single-vehicle crash in St. Helena Parish took the life of a Franklinton man just after midnight on Friday.
19-year-old Hunter Michael McGregor was pronounced dead on the scene on LA 38 north of LA 10 by the parish coroner.
Investigators say physical evidence on the scene led them to determine that McGregor was driving a Chevrolet Cobalt westbound on LA 38 when he over-corrected after entering a curved portion of the highway. The man’s vehicle spun as it traveled through the eastbound lane and went into a ditch before colliding with a large tree.
Though McGregor was wearing a safety belt, he was killed in the ensuing crash.
Troopers do not suspect impairment to have been a contributing factor in the crash. Blood samples will be sent to the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab for toxicology analysis.
