Fire marshal investigating ride accident at fair
BATON ROUGE - State Fire Marshal investigators spent Thursday night and early Friday morning investigating a reported accident at the Greater Baton Rouge State Fair.
"All we know is that a female was transported to the hospital. That's all at this time," the fire marshal told WBRZ late Thursday night.
A witness said a woman may have fallen from the "Gee Whizz" ride shortly after 8 p.m. and was carried off in a stretcher. The witness described the ride as one that goes around in a circle and moves up and down.
Earlier this month, a group of people were injured in a mishap at a fair in Livingston Parish. The fire marshal investigators eventually determined the ride was not at fault.
Fire marshal inspectors are responsible for investigating ride accidents.
