Elderly man hit, killed while changing flat tire
BATON ROUGE - A man was hit and killed while changing a flat tire Thursday evening.
State Police said Lawrence Shepherd, 80, of Baton Rouge, had pulled to the side of the road and was replacing the tire on his van when he was hit by another van. The driver of the second van ran off the road and hit Shepherd, troopers said.
The crash happened on Burbank Drive, between Bluebonnet and Highland Road where Burbank makes a sharp turn toward Highland.
Troopers said impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the crash.
A State Police spokesperson said the crash remains under investigation and charges are pending.
