Bicyclist dies in accident Saturday night
BAYOU SORREL, La. - A bicyclist was struck and killed Saturday night.
According to State Police, Brandi Mendoza, 23, was travelling southbound on LA 75 on her bicycle. Bradley Poston, 41, approached Mendoza from behind, when the right side of his vehicle struck Mendoza on her bicycle.
Mendoza was transported to Ochsner Hospital where she was pronounced dead. She was not wearing a helmet, and did not have the required lights on the bicycle.
Impairment is not suspected to be a factor in the accident. Toxicology samples will be taken from both people involved.
