Alexandria teen dies in Rapides Parish wreck
RAPIDES PARISH - An Alexandria teenager is dead after a single vehicle crash Tuesday morning.
State police said they responded to the crash at around 10:33 a.m., which happened on LA Hwy 457 north of US Hwy 71.
17-year-old Bree Ducote was driving a 2007 Chevrolet pickup northbound on LA Hwy 457 when she lost control of the vehicle and ran off the right side of the roadway. After the pickup hit a mailbox, she overcorrected and crashed into two trees.
Ducote was taken to Rapides Regional Trauma Center where she was pronounced dead.
Troopers said routine toxicology reports are pending, and the crash remains under investigations.
This year, LSP Troop E Troopers have investigated crashes resulting in 46 fatalities.
