Weather damage shuts down LA 413 bridge in Pointe Coupee indefinitely
JARREAU - Authorities says a bridge along LA 413 will be closed indefinitely due to bridge damage.
The bridge closed after Sunday's severe weather damaged the bridge's structure.
Around 4:30 p.m. the Pointe Coupee Sheriff's Office confirmed that the bridge on Louisiana Highway 413(Island Road) was closed Sunday afternoon and inspectors were en route to take a look. It was later confirmed that some of the support structures of the bridge had been washed away due to the heavy rainfall.
DOTD said that the bridge has been inspected and it was determined that repairs must be done for it can be reopened. Authorities say, they don't know when repairs can begin, adding they have to wait until the water goes down to begin work.
The detour for this route is as follows:
Northbound-LA 414 South eastbound to LA 415 North to LA 414 North westbound back to LA 413.
Southbound-LA 414N eastbound to LA 415 southbound to LA 414 South westbound back to LA 413.
Livonia High School and Rosenwald Elementary have reported many absent students Monday morning. The school system has modified bus routes due to the bridge being closed.
