New street signs going up in Denham Springs

DENHAM SPRINGS - The city of Denham Springs is overhauling hundreds of old street signs after getting a $22,000 grant.
Work is underway to replace the faded street signs around the city. The reflective coating on street signs typically lasts 8-10 years. However, many of the signs in Denham Springs date back 15-20 years.
"You can't really see them at night time, but the ones they're putting up right now will help out a lot," said street department worker George Lathers.
The crew worked Thursday to replace dozens of street signs. So far they've put up a few hundred signs but have a lot more work left to do.
"Probably 2,000 more to go," said Lathers. "It's going to take a while."
Crews will put up 60 to 80 signs a day until the work is finished.
