Matt Callihan – Meteorologist
At 5 years old, Matt Callihan’s interest for weather was sparked while watching a thunderstorm with his father. The wind from the rapid moving storm almost made them fall off their chairs landing Matt into the exciting career of Meteorology.
While earning his Bachelor’s Degree in Meteorology from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Matt also aided organizations such as NASA, Colorado State University, and the U.S. Forest Service in research projects.
Though Matt has worked on both west and east coasts, his heart is in the south. He has reported on everything from tsunamis and earthquakes to tornadoes and hurricanes. His ultimate goal is to keep communities safe from harmful weather.
Matt joined the WBRZ weather team April 2018. He enjoys playing soccer, mountain biking, golfing, and watching football. He resides in EBR Parish with his dog, Luke.
