LSU Wide Receiver Malachi Dupre helps flood victims Sunday night
BATON ROUGE- LSU Wide Receiver Malachi Dupre was spotted helping stranded motorists who drove their cars through severe flooding.
Roads were impassable Sunday night, following the deluge. Dupre and a group of his friends, were in a high truck and were in the process of rescuing those who got stuck.
"I didn't expect to see cars under water," Dupre said. "It's a very unfortunate situation. Everyone needs to pay more attention to barricades and signs."
The water was over three feet deep in some places. It also caused big problems for first responders trying to navigate through the high water to various calls for help.
John Mitchell was driving through the flooding and knew he had to get out of it quickly.
"I actually damaged another vehicle I owned in water similar to this," Mitchell said.
Whether these drivers learned a lesson Sunday, the takeaway came from the good samaritans helping with high water rescues to get people to safety.
"I didn't expect to be helping out on a rainy night, especially after a game last night, but duty calls," Dupre said.
