LSP Gaming Troopers investigates casino craps theft scheme
BATON ROUGE – Investigators with the Louisiana State Police Gaming Enforcement Division arrested a man suspected of cheating a Baton Rouge area casino out of approximately $56,000, and have secured warrants for two other men suspected in the scheme.
The arrest and warrants are part of an investigation into a group of individuals who were manipulating a casino craps game. On August 9, investigators were contacted by casino staff of a group of men that had fraudulently won nearly $56,000 playing craps by a method known as dice sliding.
Investigators worked with casino security and were able to identify three responsible individuals: Allan Arana (35), Lim R. Tan (42) and Jaime Iglesias (47).
Investigators determined that during play, Arana would manipulate the dice while Tan and Iglesias would make bets to increase the odds of payout.
Arrest warrants were signed through the 19th Judicial District Court charging all three individuals with theft (over $25,000).
While the investigation was ongoing, investigators learned that Arana had been arrested in Natchez, Miss. for a similar incident. Investigators contacted the Mississippi Gaming Commission to advise them of the warrant for Arana, but he was released from custody on Wednesday.
However, investigators were able to locate Arana at the Louis Armstrong Airport in New Orleans where he was placed under arrest on the warrant. On Thursday he was transported from New Orleans and booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish jail on the theft warrant.
Investigators are still attempting to located Tan and Iglesias.
