Funerals set for 3 killed in Eunice weekend murder-suicide
EUNICE - Funeral arrangements have been announced for the woman and her two daughters killed in a weekend murder-suicide in Eunice.
The Louisiana State Fire Marshal's Office says the girls' mother, 39-year-old Carla Watford, shot her daughters, 16-year-old Julia Watford and 9-year-old Jayia Watford, and then started a fire in the home before taking her own life.
KATC-TV reported an alleged suicide letter believed to be written by the mother was found in the burned house. It will be examined at the Louisiana State Police Crime Lab in Baton Rouge. Investigators have yet to determine how Carla Watford allegedly killed herself.
A celebration of life will happen on Saturday at 1 p.m. for all three in the Ardoin Funeral Home Chapel in Eunice. Burial will follow in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the funeral home, with a Rosary recited at 11 a.m.
