Crews battle large house fire in Brownsfield
BATON ROUGE - Emergency responders are working to extinguish a large house fire in the Brownsfield area.
The fire broke out around 8 p.m. Wednesday near the intersection of Malcolm Drive and Price Avenue. Baker firefighters arriving at the scene discovered smoke and fire coming from the home. Neighbors told investigators that a lightning strike caused the fire.
Firefighters say no one was hurt but the home is considered a total loss. Firefighters were called back to the scene Thursday morning after reports that the flames had rekindled.
The home was flooded in August, and the family was working to rebuild.
