BATON ROUGE - Authorities are responding to reports of a child shot in the hand Friday afternoon.

The incident was reported around 3:30 p.m. at a motel on Rieger Road, near I-10 and Siegen Lane. Authorities said a 5-year-old was reportedly hurt inside one of the rooms. 

The East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office says the child is expected to be OK.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing.
