BATON ROUGE - Firefighters say a pot left on the stove was behind a fire in 9600 block of Balboa Drive Monday morning.

BRFD reports they were on the scene at around 7:50 a.m. to find the fire in the kitchen. Investigators say the fire burned around the stove before it extended into the attic.

The rest of the home received some smoke damage, resulting in an estimated $13,000 worth of damage.

The Baton Rouge Police Department, EMS and Entergy were also assisting on the scene.
