Body of Plaquemine mayor brought to lie in state
PLAQUEMINE - The body of late Plaquemine mayor Tony Gulotta arrived Tuesday afternoon to lie in state at city hall.
The casket was greeted by an honor guard and groups of mourners who stood by the pay their respects to the longest-serving mayor of Plaquemine.
Gulotta's visitation at the city hall will continue until 8 p.m. Tuesday, then resume Wednesday at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church starting at 11 a.m.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held after the visitation at St. John's, with internment to follow at the church cemetery.

Gulotta, 57, died of a massive heart attack on Friday. He served 23 years as Plaquemine's mayor.
