Ascension Parish deputy chosen to sing national anthem at Saints home opener
A deputy with the Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office, originally selected to sing the national anthem in New Orleans for the Saints home game against the Bengals, has been rescheduled to this Sunday's home opener.
"This honor is usually given to a recording artist or local musician," First Lieutenant Mike Brooks said.
Brooks initially auditioned to sing the anthem for the New Orleans Pelicans but was chosen to sing for the Saints.
"I guess they like me," Brooks wrote in a Facebook post.
