DENHAM SPRINGS — Drivers in Livingston Parish who have dealt with years of construction along Juban Road may finally be nearing the end of it, according to the Louisiana Department of Transportation.

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development says crews are currently finishing permanent striping, sidewalks, and landscaping. The project is scheduled to be completed by September.

For people who use Juban Road regularly, the construction has been a constant part of daily life. Rose Barraco and Kayleigh Hanson both drive through the area several times a week and say they never quite know what traffic will look like on any given day.

"It's just been on my way to work, on my way to Baton Rouge, really, which is where I do a lot of things," Barraco said.

Barraco says construction delays can be inconsistent depending on whether workers are present. "Some days they're out there four days a week, sometimes they're not there. It makes me late to work sometimes," Barraco said.

Hanson says the road comes up in nearly every part of her routine. "We go to the gym, which we have to go down these roads, we go shopping a lot, get sweet treats," Hanson said.

At Front Porch Salon nearby, owner Roni Juneau says customers regularly bring up the same frustrations. "A lot of people were just aggravated because over the years, with all the construction, they were having tire damage or car damage or excessive lines waiting to get to work," Juneau said.

Juneau says the morning and afternoon commutes are when things get the worst. "In the mornings and in the afternoons is the worst times for it. It's a traffic jam and it makes everyone excessively late," Juneau said.
