HAMMOND – The Hammond Police Department is searching for an attempted robbery suspect. 

According to police, around 2 a.m. on Aug. 1, officers responded to Rende's Quick Stop on West University Avenue after an attempted robbery. 

Hammond Police learned that a suspect was attempting to steal merchandise from the store. When the suspect was confronted by an employee, he damaged the business' front window and door while exiting the store. According to officers, he then drove away. 

During this incident, a woman was also present during the attempted robbery.
