Guice, Pocic get SEC honors following Saturday win
BATON ROUGE – LSU's Derrius Guice and Ethan Pocic were honored by the SEC as Offensive Player and Offensive Lineman of the week.
Coming off of a 42-7 home win over the Missouri Tigers Saturday night, LSU produced a school record for total offense in a conference game with 634 yards, which were also the seventh most total yards in a game in LSU history in the victory.
Guice, is a sophomore running back. He earned his second career start and carried the ball seventeen times to a career high 163 yards and three touchdowns against Missouri. He accounted for each of LSU’s first three touchdowns of the game, earning touchdown runs of 42 and 37 yards in the contest. The Baton Rouge native averaged 9.6 yards per carry on his second 100-yard rushing game of the season.
Pocic is a senior center. Along with Guice, he helped Darrel Williams earn a career high in yards with 131 on 21 carries and three touchdowns. It’s the first time in the modern era that LSU had two running backs earn three touchdowns in the same game as the team rushed for 418 yards.
LSU faces No. 18 Florida Saturday at 11 a.m. in Gainesville . The game is on ESPN.
