Eligible children eligible to receive $120 a week for food during summer months
BATON ROUGE - The Louisiana Department of Health is issuing Sun Bucks this week, a $120 grocery benefit for eligible children during the summer months.
According to Feeding Louisiana, nearly one in four Louisiana children lives in food-insecure households.
Children who receive free or reduced-price school meals are eligible for the benefit.
Most children will receive the funds automatically to their EBT card from now until June 2.
In addition to Sun Bucks, communities across Louisiana offer Sun Meals through the USDA's Summer Meals Program. Any child 18 and under can receive meals at approved sites with no application needed.
