Deputies: "Person of Interest", charged with murder

WALKER - Deputies in Livingston have arrested 23 year old, Joshua Mitchell on for the death of Brandon Steele Parnell.

Parnell's body was found by a fisherman in the Blind River Canal in St. James Parish on Thursday ending the missing person investigation.

He went missing February 25th.

Parnell was shot in the head and according to deputies his body was dumped into the water.

Mitchell was held Friday night as a "person of interest," he was picked up on a warrant for failing to register as a sex offender. Deputies say Mitchell was mad at Parnell and they believe he murdered him the night of February 25th, and then dumped his body the water.

Mitchell faces 2nd degree murder charges and could be facing more as deputies are still investigating Parnell's death.
