Crews respond to fire at decommissioned power plant in St. Gabriel
ST. GABRIEL - Crews responded to a fire at an inoperable power plant in Iberville Parish Tuesday.
The fire was first reported shortly before 11 a.m. at the former Entergy plant off Highway 75. Several firefighters and police officers were spotted on the scene.
Video showed smoke billowing from part of the facility.
A representative for BTU says that company bought the property in December. Workers were reportedly in the process of dismantling the site Tuesday when a residue inside a tank caught fire.
No injuries were reported.
