Armed man allegedly terrorized people outside Baton Rouge motel, got into standoff with deputies
BATON ROUGE - A man who pleaded guilty to armed robbery charges just months ago was arrested again Saturday after he reportedly ran from sheriff's deputies and locked himself inside a hotel room.
According to the East Baton Rouge Sheriff's Office, deputies first responded to the Trident Inn on Rieger Road, just off Siegen Lane, before 1 p.m. over reports of a man armed with a pair of handguns chasing a woman and then pointing a gun at someone.
When deputies arrived, they spotted a man outside the La Quinta Inn next door, and when they tried to stop him, he ran and barricaded himself in an unoccupied hotel room at the nearby Motel 6.
Two of the man's relatives arrived and tried to coax him out of the room, but he refused and crawled out through a maintenance corridor. He was captured shortly afterward.
Investigators found a backpack containing two guns they believe belonged to the man, and he also reportedly had a bottle of prescription medication that was not his and was wanted on a parole violation.
Tyrrrell Jimerson, 28, was booked on two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, illegal possession of a stolen firearm, simple criminal damage to property, distribution of prescription drugs, two counts of resisting an officer and criminal trespassing.
