CLINTON — A Clinton family has created The Point Cabins and Kayaking, a spot along the Amite River where visitors can escape from daily routines.

Chris Davis, a biologist with a passion for wildlife, and his wife, Misty Davis, started building The Point in 2021 to help people connect with nature.

The Davis family said the property has become a place for people to take a break from everyday life.

Chris Davis said being on the water, specifically on the Amite, is something many people enjoy.

"If it's one thing that's been proven, that everybody likes being on the water, whether it be the beach, river, or a lake, everybody likes being on the water in the summertime," he said.

Visitors at The Point can spend time kayaking and birdwatching, and some come to look for rocks along the river.
