PORT ALLEN — Port Allen Police are investigating after a man's body was found near Rivault Memorial Park on Friday morning.
Shortly after 9 a.m., police told WBRZ that units responded to reports of a body near the intersection of Oaks and South Jefferson avenues.
"I woke up this morning about 6:45 and came out to get the newspaper and obviously saw the sirens and the police cars or the lights and the police cars and the ambulances and obviously knew something strange was going on," a neighbor said.
Other residents say a police unit would normally be parked right at the spot where the body was found.
"A street, you can see, it's hidden. It's not a street you would know. So you'd have to know the area or know someone in the area. And they were probably making rounds, because they do. And within 10, 15 minutes, you're going to see a unit pass your house," another neighbor said.
Just feet from the scene sits a ballpark where teens and kids frequently go to play.
