BATON ROUGE-Attorney General Jeff Landry announced a new partnership with the Baton Rouge Police Department in his continued efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Louisiana.

During a press conference Tuesday, authorities unveiled a new "drug take back" box. Residents can safely drop off their unused or expired prescriptions in the box.

The box will be located at the Baton Rouge Police Department headquarters on Airline Highway.

The installation of the box comes after the growing percentage of people in the area abusing opioids obtained illegally. 

The take back box is a joint effort between Landry, BRPD Chief Johnny Dunnam and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
