Police: Pair of robbers shot 66-year-old man, left him to die on Greenwell St.
BATON ROUGE - Police arrested a man and woman Wednesday after they allegedly shot a man during a robbery and left him to die in his truck.
The gunfire was first reported around 1 o'clock Friday afternoon on Greenwell Street near Winchester Avenue.
According to the Baton Rouge Police Department, 66-year-old Donald Carlton was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside of his vehicle when officials arrived to the scene. He was taken to a hospital in critical condition and later died.
On Wednesday, police announced the arrests of Derrick Holmes, 20, and Lashanta Williams, 18, on first-degree murder charges. Williams was charged as a principal to the crime. Records show she lives near the street corner where Carlton was found shot.
BRPD said Louisiana State Police assisted in tracking down the suspects.
