SHREVEPORT - U.S. Attorney Stephanie Finley says two men from Brownsville, Texas, have pleaded guilty to conspiring to sell more than 60 pounds of powder cocaine.

She says in a news release that 28-year-old Ricardo Garcia and 34-year-old Jesus Christian Martinez pleaded guilty Monday to one count of conspiracy to possess the drug with intent to distribute it.

Prosecutors say the pair was arrested after 28 kilograms of powder cocaine was found in a car pulled over for a traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Bossier Parish in February. According to the guilty plea, the vehicle had North Carolina license plates and was not registered to either the driver or passenger.

Maximum sentence on the charge is life in prison and a $10 million fine, with a minimum of 10 years in prison.
