Iberville Parish deputy arrested, fired after argument with wife turns physical
PLAQUEMINE - The Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office reports a deputy was arrested last Sunday after a domestic violence incident involving his wife.
The sheriff’s office says Deputy John Gaudet was booked on charges of domestic abuse battery on the same day as the fight.
According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office, Gaudet and his wife are going through a divorce and were at their home Sunday when, after an argument, Gaudet’s wife was struck in the face either with a fist or with a refrigerator door. She sustained an injury near her eye, according to investigators.
Iberville Sheriff Brett Stassi said he had no choice but to immediately fire Gaudet following his arrest. Deputy Gaudet once worked with the Iberville Parish Sheriff’s Office K-9 Division but was working in patrol recently.
Gaudet has bonded out since his arrest.
