PLAQUEMINE - Authorities briefly closed Highway 405 in Iberville Parish after a monochloride pipe ruptured at the Shintech plant. 

According to the Iberville Parish Sheriff's Office, authorities closed off the road near Shintech after a strange odor was detected. 

Authorities briefly closed the roadway until the scene was deemed clear.

There were no injuries or fire in the incident. 

The gas release was contained and Highway 405 was reopened shortly after. 

Shintech is investigating the cause of the pipe burst.
