BATON ROUGE - School officials are seeking more ESL teachers, as the number of international students grows.

This year the school system enrolled nearly 400 students who do not speak English as a first language. The English as a Second Language Program has been growing significantly over the past few years, according to school officials.

Superintendent Warren Drake says so far, they've met the demand, but are constantly looking to recruit qualified teachers.

"We actually do have a need for more because about 2500 of our kids are Spanish speaking or other languages Vietnamese," Drake said.

School officials say students have been picking up the material very quickly and the program has been successful thus far.
