Early voting starts Saturday
BATON ROUGE- Early voting begins Saturday for Louisiana's Oct. 24 election.
Candidates are urging supporters to cast their ballots in advance as the various statewide and local races are expected to compete for attention on Election Day with college football games and hunting plans.
Top of the ballot is the Louisiana governor's race and six other statewide elected jobs. Voters also will be sifting through legislative races, competitions for seats on the state's top school board and local elected positions.
Four statewide constitutional amendments are on the ballot.
Early voting runs from Saturday through Oct. 17, at parish registrar of voters' offices and other designated locations. Hours are from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m., but early voting is closed Sunday.
