Detectives increase reward for tips in Christmas-time slaying of mother, 13-year-old son
INDEPENDENCE - The reward for information related to a Christmas-time double murder of a mother and her young son grew to $10,000 Tuesday as the sheriff's office tries to entice informants to give them helpful information.
Anyone with any information connected to the case is asked to call the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff’s Office at (985) 345-6150 or Crime Stoppers at (800) 554-5245.
The announcement Tuesday comes more than two weeks after 42-year-old Daytra Miller and her 13-year-old son Robert West Jr. were found shot to death in their home on Labruzza Lane in Tangipahoa Parish.
The deadly shooting was on the Sunday before Christmas.
Deputies said they were called to a report of shots being fired around 6:30 that evening and found the victims dead.
Detectives believe the suspect knew the victims and said there was no ongoing danger to the public, but have not provided specific information about the killer.
