BATON ROUGE - Blue Bell is back in grocery freezers after an eight month hiatus.

Trucks started pulling up to grocery stores around 4 a.m. Monday. Shortly after opening, managers said they had a hard time keeping freezers stocked.

Matherne's near Perkins Rowe had to restock 120 half-gallons by noon Monday.

Some customers coming to get their ice cream said they haven't eaten any other brands since April.

"There's nothing that tastes better than Blue Bell," Will Thomas said. "It's smoother, it's creamier, and its just a better taste."

Others had to leave work to get their fix.

"I had to take a break from work," Kellie Bass said. "This is my lunch break, so I came to get some."

Blue Bell was off grocery shelves because of a listeria outbreak in April. The company had to remove all products, as well as disinfect the factories.

Ten people were infected with the bacteria. Three people in Kansas died.

Only a select number of flavors were brought back for now. You can find Buttered Pecan, Cookies n' Cream, Dutch Chocolate, Homemade Vanilla, Peppermint, Pistacio Almond, and The Great Divide in your grocery.
