APSO: Two wanted for car burglaries on Troy Duplessis, Babin Road
ASCENSION – The Ascension Parish Sheriff's Office is asking for the public's assistance in identifying two men wanted for burglarizing unlocked vehicles on Troy Duplessis Road and Babin Road.
The burglaries occurred in the early morning on May 9 when the two men were caught on surveillance video pulling on car door handles.
One of the men was wearing black shoes, a gray sweatshirt and gray pants carrying a handbag. The other man was wearing black pants and a dark colored hooded sweatshirt. According to the sheriff's office, both men had their faces covered and were wearing gloves.
According to the sheriff's office, seven car burglaries have been reported around Highway 621 within the past few days. Investigators say the burglars stole items like purses, laptops, and valuable belongings sitting in plain view inside unlocked cars.
Residents say the recent burglaries are unsettling.
"Very scary issue especially when you have kids and you're supposed to be safe in your own home," Andrea Castillo said.
Castillo says that she double checks to make sure her car is locked.
"So I usually do it twice once I'm closer to the car and once I walk away to make sure that the car is double security," Castillo said.
However, she said that she is considering adding another layer of security.
