Sports2-a-Days Preview: Live Oak Eagles
BATON ROUGE - The Live Oak Eagles put together a five game winning streak at the tail end of the 2017 season and now in 2018 they hope the lessons learned and the confidence gained from that run will pay off once more.
Head coach Brett Beard has 11 starters back with a majority of them on the defensive side of the ball. Beard credits his middle defense including linebackers Blake Robinson and Gabe Kimble as a strength of this years club. Defensive tackle Payton Johnson will also set the tone for a defensive line that along with Jalen Lee will be formidable.
On offense, senior quarterback Sal Palermo and running back Kee Hawkins will have to be quick and smart as the Eagles replace their entire offensive line. Coach Beard and staff are installing portions of a triple-option attack to help Palermo in the passing game, an underutilized aspect of his game last season.
