Children and yoga
BATON ROUGE- Some students are looking to yoga to help them in the classroom.
Stress naturally occurs in everyone's life. Studies show that it's important for children to limit their stress, and keep it from becoming toxic. One way to do this is by teaching them how to manage it.
“It's a wonderful gift to give kids,” says Alina Taylor, who owns a local yoga lab. “It's really important to nourish yourself so that you're able to be there for other people.”
One way students are learning to handle their stress is through yoga. Doing yoga can teach kids how to be mindful and compassionate, as well as help them reduce aggressive behaviors, social withdrawal and hyper activity.
