ZACHARY — Lane Regional Medical Center in Zachary announced that it has eliminated 14 positions, as well as closing its Allergy, Asthma and Immunology Clinic amid a series of organizational changes.

The clinic was closed due to the specialty service no longer having sufficient patient volume to remain sustainable.

The positions eliminated include staff, leadership and physician roles, with both decisions being made to "strengthen the hospital's long-term financial stability."

"These were extraordinarily difficult decisions, and among the most challenging we have faced as an organization," Frank Corcoran, Chief Executive Officer of Lane Regional Medical Center, said in a statement. "We recognize the impact these actions have on dedicated employees who have faithfully served our patients and community. We are deeply grateful for their contributions and are committed to supporting them with dignity, compassion, and respect."

The hospital, officials said, will remain fully operational and continues to provide healthcare services to Zachary.

Lane is also continuing to explore options for a partnership with another healthcare organization to "enhance financial stability, support physician recruitment, expand healthcare services and preserve local access to care for future generations."

In July, WBRZ reported on the search for a partnership.
