Suspect in Saturday bank robbery arrested
BATON ROUGE - Sheriff's deputies apprehended a man wanted for a bank robbery and possibly two other heists around the city.
The East Baton Rouge Parish Sheriff's Office identified the suspect as Louis Bennett III. Bennett is charged with armed robbery following a heist at the Whitney Bank on Bluebonnet Saturday.
The vehicle used in the robbery was similar to the vehicle used in two other robberies in city limits Friday and Saturday mornings. Police are investigating the other two crimes at a gas station Saturday and a restaurant near LSU Friday. Police have not officially connected all three crimes, though in addition to the vehicle being similar, surveillance video showed similar figures in all three robberies.
Deputies said Bennett was arrested on E. Buchanan Street Monday evening. Bennett's address was listed at a house on Kansas Street. Both are nearby the restaurant that was hit first on Friday.
