In Saints' black, gold, fans pay homage to Smith
NEW ORLEANS - Fans of slain defensive end Will Smith are paying homage to the former New Orleans Saints football star.
Hundreds of fans in their black and gold jerseys gathered Friday to a visitation held at the Saints' practice facility at a suburb of New Orleans.
Smith was shot and killed a week ago after a traffic altercation. Twenty-eight-year-old Cardell Hayes has been arrested in his death.
Fans filed past photos of Smith and stood in front of the silver casket, which was covered with a bouquet of white flowers.
Many members of the Saints organization, including coach Sean Payton, attended the visitation.
